Can I comment on this one?

I’m glad it all was sorted out, but I was still on Paul’s side.

Firstly, the guy was taking snippets of text and linking back to your site – alot of RSS readers and aggregates do this already.

Then “All Things Lanzarote” isn’t a copyrightable name. You can’t copyright a country name (I tried something like this before). The hyphened site wouldn’t rank as yours, but I felt he gave you the domain too easy. Perhaps he should of redirected it to your site and you paid him a yearly fee, as he already built up the site with PR and backlinks.

I’m not trying to get on anyone’s goat, just think things could of been handled differently.

Alan-I have been in touch with Paul this evening, and we have agreed a way forward. Like you, I now have a very different opinion of the motives behind the problem, and am prepared to accept that it was a misunderstanding, and probably a good learning experience for both sides.

Paul- thank you very much for your co-operation, and I look forward to resolving this quickly in the way we discussed.

Well this looks like we will all reach a happy conclusion soon, have just spoken with Alan who is a very reasonable guy and we are sorted.
In the process of speaking to Miles now to accept his olive branch to stop the conflict of interest regarding the same site names and suggest that rather than reimburse me he make a donation to a dog refuge on the Island of Lanzarote thus giving something back to the community and achiving something positive from this whole misunderstanding.
Hopefully this will be resolved very shortly.

As I have mentioned earlier – I am happy to remove it at the request of Paul and Miles who are at the centre of this dispute. It’s their call – not yours.

Then I suggest you remove this page that is accusing somebody and sabotaging their website if your just going to post comments you find appropriate or I will simply post the same comment on various other websites.

To the person called Dave who just commented but has not left a valid email address – I have withheld the comment: Not because your points weren’t valid – they indeed are correct. But based on the fact that this is obviously pretty raw between Paul and Miles.

They as I understand are now sorting this out privately. So rather than revive ‘open wounds’ perhaps we should leave it down to them now to sort it out in a ‘gentlemanly’ fashion. Should the debate open up again at their wishes – I will as I have with all comments here publish yours in its entirety and un-edited.

For my part – as far as I am concerned Paul and I have sorted out our differences amicably – and I hope he and Miles can do the same.
